And I loved every minute *open*
« Thread Started on Aug 28, 2008, 9:09pm »

Soft hoofbeats on the sandy drive annouced the return of horse and rider. A young women in her early twenties led a dapple gray mare into the barn. Each step they took both horse and rider took in the smells, the sights, noticing any little changes since they had last left. Casey frowned a little as she noticed that many stalls where missing their horses, this meant that several of her friends had left while she, Anthony, and Buz had been away.

Casey began to think about times that she had with old friends, and jokes she had been planning on sharing when she got back. As the she thought, two new horses popped their head out of their stalls and whinnied, snapping Casey out of her dream like state. She smiled as she saw a beautiful Fresian gelding. "Hey beautiful," she said amd then looked towards the next horse, she was easily recognized as a Thoroughbred.

As Casey Pondered as to whom these new horses may belong to, she attached Pixie to the cross ties and set down the grooming kit she had been holding. She quickly selected a curry comb from the selection of brushes and began grooming her quiet mare.

She was excited. Today was her first day at Whispering Wind Stables. Surely she would have a good time? She was sure she would. Jumping out of the truck, she looked at her dad who wore a cowboy hat. "Bye dad, just let me unload the horses." Yes she had two. They were both beautiful horses, and were both barrel racers.

As she unlatched the back door, a winny escaped from the paint. She grabbed hold of Dusty's Treasure and led the brown paint out of the trailer. She tied her halter to the side of the trailer to get the other horse that was waiting in the trailer. After Midnight Wandyrer was in her hands, she walked back out of the truck. Waving to her dad, she stepped back, untying the brown appaloosa and stepping back. Her dad drove off, noticing that Arya had both horses with her.

She now clutched both horses halters in her hands. The two looked around curiously at their surroundings. This was clearly different than California. Well, duh, it was halfway around the world. "You'll two have plenty of time to see the surroundings later. Lets get you to your stalls." The school had sent her a paper telling her what stall her horses belonged to. They were well together, but the school had them in stalls 6 and 7.

She had expected them to share a stall, but what good would it do argueing with the school? None. She led the horses into the stable, and saw another girl there. She had her horse out, and she tightened her grip on Midnight Wandyrer's lead rope since she was the closest. "You going to behave Midnight Wandyrer?" As in response, the mare tossed her head up and down. "That's what I thought."

She stopped in front of stall 7 and put Midnight Wandyrer in there. Arya then pulled the door shut and latched it. The appaloosa mare poked her head out and a hand reached up, stroking the mare's velvety head. "Good girl." She then put Dusty's Treasure in the next stall, stall 6 and stroked the mare.

She turned to the other girl, who she nearly forgot about. As she approached the girl, careful not to spook the horse, and stay clear of the back side, she reached out a hand. She stood back someways, hoping the horse would not act up. "Hello, I'm Arya, Arya Aoyi. Some people call me Ar, others call me my middle name, Shay."

Casey had not noticed the new arivals until the sound of hoofbeats entered the barn she looked up and smiled. Casey looked towards Pixie and rubbed her nose. "I know you would like to go and meet them huh girl? Well maybe later." Casey decided she would go back to grooming until or if the girl decided to introduce herself.

A few minutes later the girl in question did indeed introduce herself. Casey looked up still smiling. "I'm Casey," she said and shook Ar's hand. "And this is Pixie, She's a good girl, you don't have to worry about her acting up." Casey looked admiringly to her horse who, as if on que, whinnied softly, as if agreeing to watch her rider had said.

"Nice to meet you Casey." She smiled and looked at her horses after Casey told her what her horse's name was. "The black appaloosa is Midnight Wandyrer and that's Dusty's Treasure." She then turned back to Casey. "She's a paint." As Pixie winnied softly, Midnight Wandyrer winnied back. "I think Midnight would like to meet Pixie." She giggled slightly.

Flipping her hair behind her shoulders, she looked around the barn. "Are all of the stalls filled? Or are some of them vacant right now?" She figured that some of them would be filled, there would not just be 5 horses here, could there? She hoped there were more, it would be great if there were.

(sorry, short.)

Casey sighed, "Truthfully, I'm not sure, I just got back from a bunch of shows out of state, so I don't really know who's still here." Casey put down the brush and did a quick look through of the stalls, "It looks like mostly everyone left, however, Emily's horse George and Bud's horse Apache are still here, they must be out in the paddock."

She looked toward the stallion stables nearby. "I walked passed the stallion stalls early, There are still two horses left in there, A black fresian named Tornado, and a brown Paint named Bee. They just got back too so they're in their stalls. Other than that, I don't think there are any other horses her right now, but more have a habit of showing up."Casey frowned as she tried to figure out why the owners would have left in the first place, she made a mental note to ask Emily.

Casey smiled and picked up a body brush and continued to brush Pixie. A second later a border collie ran into the barn her tail wagging. She ran up to Casey and started begging for attention. "Hey Spiral" Casey said and bent down to pet her. "Are you being a good girl?" Casey smiled and looked towards Arya "This is Sprial, my boyfriend, Anthony's dog." At that moment Sprial had just noticed Arya and ran over to meet what she thought was a new friend.

"Pixie, very cute name." She smiled and listened as Casey explained what she thought happened to the other horses. Once she finished, Arya thought for a moment. "So I'm getting at it that there are about five more?" She smiled again. It was a habit she had.

As the border collie ran in, she laughed. When Spiral came up to her, she bent down to pet the dog. "Hey Spiral, you don't chase cats do you? Lets hope not." She had a cat, Spork. Standing up, she looked back at Casey. "Spiral seems like a nice dog." She turned so she was facing the stable entrance.

Her hands cupped over her mouth and she yelled words into the sky. "Luna, Aussie!" Her call was greeted by excited yaps. A siberian husky the color of an off white and a gray, brown, black, and tan australian shepherd entered the barn. The two puppies ran up to Arya. When she bent down, the two jumped on her, toppling her over and started licking her face. She laughed and pushed the puppies off.

"The siberian husky is Luna, while the australian shepherd is Aussie. They're still puppies." The two started barking, but soon they looked at the fence Dusty's Treasure was in. Arya followed their gaze puzzled, until her eyes rested on the black and white kitten that sat on the fence, its tail flicking from side to side. "And that's Spork. He always hangs with the two horses. Come to think of it, he loves horses." The kitten mewed, waiting for attention.

Arya walked over, and stroked the furry black and white animal. A rusty purr rumbled out of the chest of Spork. He always purred when someone was petting him. When the cat noticed the collie(it was about time), he watched him warrily. The cat did not trust anyone he didn't know, and sometimes Arya would take him with them on trail rides. He would sit in the saddle bags, his head poking out watching the scenery.

Casey smiled, "he's adorable!" she said still brushing Pixie but paying attention to Arya at the same time. "So what do you ride?" Casey asked, wondering wether she was an english or a western gal. She finished with the body brush and picked up a soft brush. Casey moved to Pixie's head and whispered soothing words to the mare, as she spoke Pixie's ears stood still, pointing foward, taking in every word her owner said.

As Casey waited for Arya to answer she brushed Pixie's face removing all dirt and dust that had acumulated during their ride home. When she finnished with the face, assuring that no dirt escaped the brushing, she moved swiftly to her neck.

"Thanks." She ran her peach colored hand down his back once more before she stepped away. Her eyes rested on Casey, watching her brush the mare. She watched as she started brushing Pixie's neck. "Maybe later would you like to go on a trail ride with me?" She didn't know anyone, and hoped that Casey would say yes. Of course, her two puppies would be tagging along, they always did.

She wasn't sure if she would take Spork with her or not. He might want to rest. "By the way, I race barrels. Both of my horses are western barrel racers." That's just what she called it. Western for the type of saddle, and barrel racers for their sport. She never did race before, but they were soon ready. Tomorrow she would take both of them and practice.

Casey smiled and stopped brushing for a moment, "Of course! Pixie has been dieing to run a bit, it was a long ride home and she doesnt really like being cooped up in a trailer." As if in agreement, Pixie whickered and Casey smiled.

"We can go to the park, the trails there are pretty good." Casey thought for a moment, "Emily might like to come too, if you don't mind that is." She grinned, "I haven't even seen her yet though," Casey became thoughtful again as she wished that she had stopped by to see emily when she got back.

"It was a long way also. They would kill for a stretch of their legs. Of course it'll be fine for Emily to join us." She smiled. The tennasee walker's winnie was nice. She always loved their nickers. It made her smile larger.

Luna barked, and Arya bent down. She ran a hand over her fur, and smiled. "Why don't you bug someone else for a change?" There was humor behind her words. Of course she would never talk bad about her pets. Aussie and Luna wagged their tails happily and turned to Casey. Aussie tried to climb up her leg.

Arya laughed. "Not Casey. Someone else." The dogs turned towards the exit of the barn, and the entrance. They ran towards it, vanishing on the outside.
